BABS Live! BABS Live!, the first ever living-room Barbershop Convention, is being staged online with the help of thousands of singers across the UK by the British Association of Barbershop Singers. BABS annual gathering at the end of May would normally attract 3000 participants, as well as some of the world's most talented vocal ensembles. But lockdown has intervened. Our planned venue in Harrogate has been pressed into service as one of the new Nightingale hospitals, and so the Convention will be held instead in thousands of homes across the UK, linked through an interactive livestream on Saturday 23rd May. Hosted by James Gower-Smith and Chris Langworthy of Tagline, the show will be streamed live on the BABS Facebook and Youtubechannels. We already have confirmed performances from Hallmark of Harmony, One Foot In The Stave, Bagatelle, Sound Hypothesis and Forefront, with more to be confirmed in the next few weeks, we’ll have interviews with a range of interesting barbershoppers, but most of all we’d like you to get involved. So can you take part? Performance VideosWe’d like to feature as many barbershop groups (whether it’s your quartet, chorus and you’re men’s, women’s or mixed gender) as we can. Whether it’s a rehearsal video from one of your last rehearsals, a song from a show or even a tag that you’ve recorded from home over the last couple of weeks we’d like to feature it. BABS Memory LaneHave you got a story about something that happened to you at a convention that you’d really like to share? We would love to hear it.The deadline for submissions is 23:59 on Thursday 30th April, and while we will do everything we can to feature your performance or memory video in the show, we can’t guarantee that it will appear.
