Liam Buswell Expand Liam started singing barbershop in 2007, caught the EQ bug in 2013 and hasn't looked back since. He has taken part in the majority of EQ streams at BABS Harmony College over the last decade and has been involved in leading the stream since 2019. He has attended numerous UK and European Harmony Brigades since their inception in 2015 and took part in the inaugural USA Mixed Harmony Brigade in Boston in 2019. He is a member of the UK Harmony Brigade committee, sits on the EHB Music Team and, in April, led the UK's first ever 'treble clef' EQ event at LABBS Harmony College! Liam is looking forward to welcoming EQers old and new to the newly revamped Extreme Quartet stream.
Chantel K Parsons Expand Chantel is a third-generation barbershopper, following in the footsteps of her mother and grandfather. She sings lead with Muddy Stilettos quartet, the Sweet AdeIines Region 31 2022 champions. Her first quartet experience was with the United States Naval Academy Sirens in 2001. She then earned a BM in Choral Music Education (Dance Minor) from George Mason University in 2008 and taught high school choir, musical theatre, guitar, piano and music theory. Chantel was active in both the Mid-Atlantic District of BHS and Blue Ridge Region 14 of Sweet Adelines. She sang with the Vienna Falls chorus at the SAI International Competitions in Nashville, Houston and Honolulu. Her quartet, See Jane Sing! was active with veterans groups around the Washington DC area and specialised in classic vintage close harmony with period costumes and high-energy dance routines. She also directed the Arlintones men’s chorus before leaving for the UK. Since arriving in the UK, Chantel has been singing with Viva Acappella and has competed in Las Vegas and New Orleans for the SAI International Contests and with Muddy Stilletos in Pheonix last year. She is currently working for the NHS mental health trust in Kent and is pursuing a master’s degree in music therapy. Chantel teaches piano, creates women's learning tracks, and coaches quartets.
Boo de Bruin Expand Having grown up in the English choral tradition, and subsequently discovered a love for musical theatre, Boo finally encountered barbershop during her postgraduate studies at the University of Bristol. She sang with and latterly directed The University of Bristol Barbershop Singers (TUBBS), whom she took to the European Barbershop Convention as special guests. As the national youth co-ordinator for the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers from 2015 - 2019, she founded an 'over 18s youth chorus', and directed them to win the LABBS Small Chorus trophy twice, while also directing the main youth chorus, containing singers as young as seven. In May 2022, Boo won the European Quartet Championship, singing tenor in Avalon, (LABBS QCs 2018). She has also won national chorus gold medals with 2019 BABS Mixed chorus, A Kind of Magic, and LABBS chorus, Amersham A Cappella, for whom she is also assistant director. She is Music Category Director for BABS. When not singing, directing or coaching, Boo teaches secondary school science.
