Alan has been singing barbershop for most of his life, having been first introduced by his dad,(in particular his dad's baritone teach tracks) at the age of three. Since then, Alan has enjoyed a number of successes in the world of barbershop, including a quartet championship and Hall of Fame induction with his quartet Monkey Magic and chorus championships with Cottontown Chorus and Hallmark of Harmony. He is a certified Judge in the Music Category, and enjoys coaching quartets and choruses. Outside of barbershop, Alan holds a degree in Music Production, and is Head of Music at a secondary school in Birmingham. He lives in Birmingham with his wife Sarah and their retired greyhound Harry.

The role of Chair sees Alan steering the Association in the right direction where he will get to chair our Board and Members' meetings. He loves this role as it involves meeting so many BABS members, as well as people from other Barbershop Associations around the world.
