Singing has always been a part of Martin’s life. His passion for singing started as a boy in Sunday School, later progressing through all four parts in the Chapel Choir, Sixth Form College Male Voice Group, Treviscoe Male Voice Choir (the 1956 World Champions, founded by Martin’s Grandfather) and in Gilbert and Sullivan productions whilst at University. However, it wasn’t until 1986 that he found barbershop, whilst living in Bristol. Looking to quench his thirst for singing, he answered the call of a car sticker, and went along to his first Great Western Chorus rehearsal, and has been hooked ever since! Since that evening, he has won several medals with GWC (inc 3 golds), and appeared in the quartet finals on eight occasions.

A retired Police Officer, Martin now volunteers in his local primary school as a Teaching Assistant. Martin is honoured to serve as the Chairman of BABS, a role which sees him overseeing the growth of our Association in terms of standards, numbers and reputation.
