Dale Kynaston, Director of Music and Education Dale Kynaston Unlike most people, Dale got into barbershop singing through a quartet, not a chorus. Heavily involved in Musical Theatre as a young man, he was asked by three other singers if he fancied a go at barbershop, and the rest, as they say, is history! Soon after he joined the Telfordaires, and then Anvil Chorus, joining BABS in 1985. A few short years later in 1990, he was a BABS Quartet Champion with Curtain Call, which was the start of a huge success story in quartet, winning gold medals with Soundcrew (2003) and Pitch Invasion (2006), and becoming the first British quartet to make the BHS Semi-Finals with Reckless in 2017. It doesn’t stop there - Dale is also a successful chorus director, arranger, and sought after coach. Outside of barbershop, Dale lives in Newport, Shropshire and has three grown-up sons. He runs his own cleaning company, management consultancy company, and teaches singing at a local music school. He also directs a mixed voice a capella choir and sings in a Swing and Glenn Miller band. In his role of Director of Music & Education, Dale utilises his knowledge, experience and contacts to build upon the musical standards of the Association, and oversees the organisation of Harmony College, Directors Academy, and any other educational events. He also oversees our Contest & Judging Team. Dale enjoys being able to give back to the Association he has been a member of for over 37 years. Manage Cookie Preferences
