We are delighted to announce the launch of our new initiative BABS Learn!

BABS Learn! is a series of free-to-attend classes and discussions and is open to everyone, whether you’re a BABS member, part of another barbershop organisation or simply anyone looking to learn a little more about singing.

Kirsty Williams

Kirsty trained as an actor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. After several years of performing she moved into directing.

She works as a director, musical director and acting coach for several companies and theatres and has a particular love of new writing and working with young actors. She has partnerships with the Edinburgh Fringe, The National Theatre, LAMDA, NAYT, Sheffield Theatres.

She has enjoyed working on several large scale touring musicals in various capacities.

As a qualified teacher she works throughout the UK in schools both as teacher and assessor and as performance and communications examiner for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She is also the principal of a part time Theatre School in Derbyshire.

Kirsty is a performance judge for the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers and coach. Her work in the theatre and performing arts education means she has a performer centred approach to barbershop coaching with a focus on acting and stage direction. She works with the performer to find an inner truth which can be developed to produce a natural-feeling, authentic and stage worthy performance. Kirsty’s approach is quite organic which means that each group will experience a unique experience driven by the personality and instincts of the performers.

She enjoys working with storytelling, acting techniques and choreography with groups to facilitate work that engages and moves audiences.
