On Saturday 23rd May, well over a thousand barbershoppers from around the world tuned in to BABS Live!, the first online concert from BABS (the British Association of Barbershop Singers).

Hosted live by Chris Langworthy and James Gower-Smith (baritone and lead of our 2015 quartet champions, Tagline), and featuring live reporting from Shanna Wells, our social media guru, the show featured the very best of British Barbershop, including all of our 2019 Champions and contributions from many, many more.

Special features in the show were a look back on the Millennium Convention with our resident ‘statman’ Sam Hubbard, a beginners guide to convention, and a rather emotional tribute to John Grant. We also featured our scheduled special guests for our postponed Convention, Forefront and Instant Classic, before announcing that Midtown would be our special convention guests in 2021. The show finished with an emotional moment, when people were asked to stand and sing along to the ‘closing numbers’ under the direction of none other than John Grant.

Obviously, we’d have much rather been together in person for our convention, but under the circumstances, this was the closest thing to being there, and we hope you enjoyed it!
