As you may be aware, our talented Musical Directors from across the country met regularly in 2020 over Zoom, in what became known as 'MD Forums'. The brainchild of our Director of Music & Education Dale Kynaston, they take place every couple of months and allow for the MD's of our clubs to share ideas, resources and sometimes frustrations on a peer-to-peer basis, and have come in incredibly useful as we all adapted to strange new routines in 2020.
It was the success of these that gave the BABS Board an idea - why don't we do something similar for our club chairs, too? Like our MD's, our talented and hardworking Chairs have ideas to share, questions to ask, and frustrations to vent, and these informal forums would be a good setting to allow for that.
We therefore held our first Chairs Forum on the morning of 16th January 2021, with over 40 of our club chairs represented. The first one was full of information sharing from the BABS Board, and from this we already have some things to discuss at our next forum, which will be held on the 10th April at 10:30.
The feedback has been very positive so far, and we look forward to them becoming a regular occurrence as we look to bounce back from a challenging 2020.
