Having been invited to an “Open Evening” of the West Midlands Barbershop Harmony Club in 1985, being tempted more by the offer of beer and sandwiches than the singing, Peter was soon “caught” by the Barbershop sound, and has been an active member of BABS since then.

On his early retirement as a Primary School Headteacher, and wanting to try to “give something back” to the hobby, he accepted the offer to join the Contest Administration Team, and has enjoyed roles as Equipment Manager and Quartet Contest Manager, before accepting the position of Contest Administration Category Director. This role sees Peter overseeing the General aspects of all Contests, monitoring the work of the Contest managers, and liaising with members of the Board and Judges on Contest Matters. As such he is a members of the Executive Committee of the Contest and Judging Team, where he works closely with the Category Directors of the Music, Performance and Singing Judges.

Peter is very appreciative of all the genuine friends he has made both home and abroad through his involvement in the barbershop hobby and all the opportunities extended to him.
