Stuart started singing barbershop in 1975 with Chesham (now Chess Valley) club after seeing a notice pinned to a tree, advertising a new club.  He was a member for nearly 40 years, before moving to Yorkshire in 2014; he now sings with Spirit of Harmony in York.

It was not long after starting singing that he became interested in judging and has been a Singing judge for many years, as well as serving as Guild Chairman and Category Director.  He also served as BABS Chairman 2005/6.  He has held various club roles, including chairman and secretary.  He is a long standing member of the Harmony College faculty.

Singing must be in the blood, as his son and daughter are also dedicated barbershoppers.

The role of Membership Secretary involves keeping the membership records up to date for each club, dealing with annual returns, registration of new members, managing  gift aid and, most importantly, providing the figures for the Finance Director to send out invoices.

Stuart also manages the Quartet Register.

In his spare time, he is involved with various local charities and works as a volunteer lock keeper on the Leeds & Liverpool canal.
