We are delighted to announce that Sing2026 will take place in Harrogate over the last May Bank Holiday weekend of 2026 – and this year, our flagship event will see a refreshed format designed to reflect member feedback, enhance the experience, and ensure long-term sustainability.
Over the past year, the Board and Convention Team have listened carefully to what matters most to our community. Members told us that delegate costs needed to be lower, that empty seats in contests could be disheartening, and that social connections are at the very heart of what makes our events special. With these priorities in mind, Sing2026 will be shorter, more affordable, and more focused than ever – without losing the world-class singing and sense of celebration we all love.
What’s New in 2026:
A two-day format: Running from Saturday morning through to late Sunday, with Bank Holiday Monday left free for travel.
Saturday – Chorus Contests: Male and Mixed Choruses will each compete as separate contests with separate awards, but all groups will be scheduled across the same day to guarantee fuller audiences and a compact, vibrant programme.
Sunday – Quartet Contests: Semifinals in the morning and Finals in the afternoon, ensuring a bigger, more supportive audience for all performers.
Shows and Social Highlights: The ever-popular Saturday Show and Sunday Afterglow/Open Mic remain centrepieces of the weekend, offering more opportunities to celebrate and sing together.
Optional Friday Activity: For those arriving early, we are exploring a relaxed social singing or welcome event, hosted in the team hotel or a nearby venue if demand is sufficient.
Tickets and Affordability:
Our new structure allows us to keep Sing2026 accessible, with significantly reduced costs compared to previous years.
- Full Weekend Ticket (All-Inclusive): £75 – covering every contest, show, and activity.
- Youth/Carer with toddler: £37.50
- Junior: £27.50
- Single Day Ticket: £35 (Saturday or Sunday)
- Show Ticket: £15
All competitors will need a Full Weekend Ticket, ensuring simplicity and consistency across the event.
Why the Change?
Without these changes, running Sing2026 under the old model would have cost more than £200,000 – a 15% increase on 2024. By moving to a streamlined two-day event, we can protect members from large ticket price rises while strengthening the social, musical, and community elements that make Convention so special.
Looking Ahead
Sing2026 represents not only a refreshed format, but a realignment with our values: keeping singing at the centre, fostering connection, and creating an unforgettable celebration of harmony.
We can’t wait to welcome you to Harrogate in May 2026 for a weekend full of music, friendship, and memories.
