Join the Contest & Judging Team

If you are interested in training to become a judge, and if you are a member in good standing of BABS, you can apply to join the BABS Contest & Judging Team. Applications can be sent between September 1st and 30th November, provided there are available spaces.

To do this, please complete the below Application Form, and send it to [email protected], along with one letter of recommendation. Please read the Application Training Process document for more information.

Being an effective judge within BABS isn’t just about writing down scores. We are looking for applicants who are organised and reliable, have strong communication skills, possess experience in the barbershop world as performers and coaches, and throughout all of it, show a strong desire to help other singers improve and become more confident. Depending on the judging category you are interested in, there are some other specialised skills we would look for in an applicant. Please read the Person Specification document for more information.

If you are accepted as an applicant, there will be some key tasks for you to complete in January and February of the following year, including attending Day 1 of our annual Spring Seminar. Following this, if your application is successful, you will be taken forward to begin the 3-year training program as a Candidate Judge.
